Just bought a probook 4540s, it did well charging first time. but whn i plugged in for the second time, it is not charging again, and says not charging . using win xp pro 32bit.

I actually was being rubbish, 4540 doesnot start charging untill its battery is below 90%. I was connecting chargr at 94%. Whn batyery got low to 89% it automatically started charging....

Hi
Try this:
.
Disconnect AC
Shutdown
Remove battery
Connect AC
Startup
Open Device Manager
Click the plus (+) sign next to Batteries category, right-click All of the "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery" listings, and select Uninstall In the "Confirm Device Uninstall" dialog box, click OK. (it’s ok if you only have 1 of these listings).
Click the plus (+) sign next to System Devices.
Right-click the “ACPI Fixed Features Button" and select Uninstall. In the "Confirm Device Uninstall" dialog box, click OK.
Shutdown
Disconnect AC
Insert battery
Connect AC
Startup

I bought a new probook 4540...let me explain you the issue which i am facing..my laptop is charging just fine..battery timings and everything is normal but theres a slight problem.. "Everytime i plug in my charger..it shows me that "PLUGGED IN NOT CHARGING" msg for aa second and then turn into normal "plugged in charging".......so i wanna know if this is a normal behaviour or is there some issue with my laptop?

Yellow chargin light stopped flashing, Battery icon states charging, but not changed status after 3 hours of being plugged in and no one using.

What is the product number for your notebook?  This document can show you where it is located.

Also, what version of Windows are you using?
