HP Notebook - 15-r208nk
Linux

hello
I have installed Ubuntu(16.04) alongside Windows 7
I noticed that when I closed the computer from Ubuntu , the screen closes, but the computer will continue to engage, sometimes the screen remains dependent on this case

I always had to shut down the computer by pressing the power button for a few seconds.

I downloaded the system from the official site https://www.ubuntu.com/
My Laptop:
HP Notebook 15-r208nk
Processeur:Intel® Pentium(R) CPU N3540 @ 2.16GHz × 4
RAM: 4Gb
Disk: 25.3 Gb

Thanks

Hi @GNassro

Welcome to the HP Support forum. Sending you warm Tux greetings 🙂

HP does not officially support Ubuntu (GNU/Linux) on this PC configuration. The issue you report comes probably because the PC tries to go to Sleep or Hibernation mode and it fails to complete this steps (hungs).

I am also Debian/Ubuntu/LM user and I have seen what you desribe with some users and this has long been a known issue with few users (not only in HP but also other PC vendors). As you probably know there is no 100% definite solution with Linux world, so you can try :

- either disable compeltely Stand by (Sleep) mode and Hibernation -> Info:

or

or > http://askubuntu.com/questions/15520/how-can-i-tell-ubuntu-to-do-nothing-when-i-close-my-laptop-lid

or

- try with another Ubuntu distro/kernel version (Ubuntu 14 - kernel 3.13/3.19 , not kernel 4 //  Linux MInt 17.2 with kernel 3.13 or 3.19 or 4.2 (not 4.4)

Hope this helps
