I bought Plextor M5S 256gb few days ago. With the latest bios f.40 it was working as SATA2 even when SATA3 in Bios was set. So I have started to looking for some solution and I found one 🙂 In 6560b we have the same bios like for example 8560p and some 8560p owner tried to downgrade f.40 bios version to f.20 (can be found on 8560p page) and it solved his problem with SATA2 !
So I did the same and here is the result:

As we can see, the result is much, much better, but to be honest, still worst then I could seen in reviews. I see that in f.20 bios there is no option to change SATA 2 or SATA 3 like in f.40, it is changed automatic. In f.40 we can chosse, but with my HDD it doesn`t matter whether it was SATA2 or SATA3 set in bios, it was always working as SATA2.
The question is why HP did something like that with the latest bios. If there was some problem with SATA3 that we don`t know about, why they gave us the choice between SATA2 and SATA3 in f.40 ? For now it is working without any problems, but maybe we don`t know everything 🙂
BTW
I was looking for some solution to make my 6560b silent and I found a great program - " TPFanControl by troubadix", version for 4530s works great with our 6560b. You can try it 🙂

And here is AS SSD result:

Of course looks much better than with SATA2 but still in my opinion 4k is a little bit lover than it should. Or maybe I am wrong, this is my first SSD 🙂 For now laptop works fine on f.20 bios. Crystal and AS SSD shows abovementioned results but HD Tune has 300mb/s so the question in which one was right.
Intel RST shows SATA 6gb/s running (on f.40 bios it shows 3gb/s even when 6gb/s was set in Bios). And i agree that HP is not fair with us, if there is some problem that they don`t want to allow SATA3 in the latest bios, they should tell us about it...
I am curious how i would be if I tried f.40 bios again 🙂 But not today, or maybe someone else can try 🙂
EDIT:
Something weird happens with HD Tune Pro. It shows maximum Read transfer as 300mb/s. And 300mb/s is theoretically a maximum transfer of SATA2 3Gb/s. But with f.40 bios and SATA2 its tranfer was just 190mb/s and AS SSD and Crystal was about 250mb/s. Now Crystal and AS SSD show almost 500mb/s and HD Tune Pro just 300mb/s. I don`t know what is going on.

I got stung last night, attempting to put a 256GB Samsung Pro 840 into a 6560b with f.08
I stumbled on this thread and only then tried a BIOS firmware update.
After attempting to update to f.41 (which wouldn't recognise my BIOS family... even though it's supposedly supported), I was finally successful with f.40.
I'm just using 3Gb/s at the moment, haven't had the time to try 6Gb/s.
Did anyone else have a tough time removing the preinstalled HDD? Mine was very stuck and required a flathead screwdriver (and a few cuts!)
AS SSD benchmarks
Read/Write
Seq: 259/221.21 MB/s
4K: 28.3/52.03 MB/s
4K-64Thrd: 198.56/150.1 MB/s
Acc. time: 0.075/0.053 ms
Score: 253/224

florianf: I had the same message re: BIOS family not matching when attempting to update from f.08 to f.41.
I had no problem with f.08 -> f.40. Haven't tried f.40 -> f.41 yet.
f.40 with 6Gbps enabled and a Samsung 840 Pro fails to boot. Back to 3Gbps. Seriously, HP, pick up your act.
