I tried you suggestions, but the battery is still not charging.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Hello pvmc0624,

Your notebook is not charging.

You can follow those steps just leave everything connected.

Also do a hard reset.
Turn the computer off.
Remove the power cable and the battery.
Hold down the power button for 15 sec while booth power sources are removed.

This should reset the hardware in the computer.

As you turn it back on tap the F10 key. This will load BIOS setup utility.
Press F9 to load defaults.
Press F10 to save and exit.

When the computer boots back up, check to see if everything is working.

Here is a link that will show you how to test and calibrate your battery.

Let me know how everything goes.

pvmc0624,

Turn on the notebook and remove the battery for a few minutes and then reinstall the battery.

Also you can try a different restore point, a different day.

If the computer says that the restore did not complete successfully, sometimes you can just turn off the computer to finish the restore.

Please post your product and model number.

You can find this information by holding the FN key and pressing the ESC key.

Had the computer on with the battery out last night..........no change.

I tried both restore points that were available and both gave me the error that they could not finish.

pvmc0624,

Turn off the computer.

As you power it back on, tap the F8 key.

Advanced boot options will appear, select last known good configuration.

This will take the system back to when everything was working correctly.

Go to HP.com and update the BIOS.

Here is a link to the update.

pvmc0624,

You can perform a clean boot to see if software is causing the problem.

Thank you so much, my battery was not charging at all without my realising it. The steps were slightly different because the battery was completely dead but it is now charging!
