Also have HP 255 G8 Laptop. 30 minutes ago when I want to turn off laptop, there are options update and shut down,  or update and restart. I choose the first one and my laptop BIOS  was updated to the latest version. After that I recievie the message/ label on screen "There is an issue with Trusted Platform Module (TPM) data. Press [Y] - Reset whole TPM, Press [N] - Boot with current TPM data. Note: Bitlocker may require the recovery key to boot to Windows" after update was finished.

After that when I try to login something happened and  I get instruction that my PIN is not available, and I have to set up new  PIN again". I fulfill every password which was demanded, and then the next option is to get code by my personal mail, **bleep**, and every time when I try to get a code, I don't receive the mail.  I call this situation loop without exit and solution. I see that this is happening 5 day continuous so somebody from HP should react soon as possible. So what is the value of computer if it breaks after less than a year, because of some stupid  factory update. Just co check with people from Serbia, where were you buy the laptops. I buy my in Gigatron!

Did it ask for the bitloker recovery key?

HP Recommended

No it didn’t ask for bitlocker, but I don’t have bitlocker a so maybe that’s why

I also had problems with requesting the security code for the new PIN setup. I have not received an email despite repeated requests. This is a problem with Microsoft that I've had many times. I was then given the option at one point in the procedure to choose another way to transmit the security code. With the “SMS” option it worked immediately.

I came across this issue on the 16 of october. Instead of choosing Y or N , I contacted HP support , which didn't give any solution. I got  just a case number. I haven't receved any answer so far.

Would you suggest that I sould recontact HP support to ask for confirmation about your method or just apply it  without further ado?

HP Recommended

Any solution yet. I can't start my PC because it's asking me the pressing thing y or n. And when I press y or n my PIN is lost it says I should set up my PIN again.
