<<< I tried turning off the computer and removing the battery and plugging it back in and turning it back on.  Now the computer doesn't even recognize that it's plugged in.>>>

Hmm, I never tried that process, and now I certainly won't. What works consistently for me is removing, then reinserting, the battery while the computer is on.

<<<it worked. my laptop started charging after following all the steps.>>>

That's great. Now please tell us which steps those were.

 Hi, I have a HP pavilion dv7, windows 7.

Same problem here, but My Laptop does not work with the AC only, it requires the battery in, so I did this procedurers :

  1. Disconnect AC
  2. Shutdown
  3. Remove battery
  4. Connect AC
  5. Startup
  6. Under the Batteries category, right-click all of the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery listings, and select Uninstall (it’s ok if you only have 1).
  7. Shutdown
  8. Disconnect AC
  9. Insert battery
  10. Connect AC
  11. Startup

But I could not remove the battery anyways.  Well it did not work. None of this, what shall I do?

Thanks in advance.

Since it doesn't work on AC only, how did you accomplish your step 5?

Since you can't remove the battery, how did you accomplish your step 3?

this happened to me just after windows 10 got installed.

No, I could not accomplish part 5.  So can pavillion dv7 be powered by the AC alone, without the battery plugged in? Because if so, then I may have a hardware problem.

I though every laptop could be operated on AC power, even with the battery removed.

You might consider putting a voltmeter on the power cord plug (the end that plugs into the computer), to check whether your problem is in the power cord.

I too have this problem.

What I find fascinating about the replies from "Sparkles" is that "she" (as we have no way of identifying this avitar) is that there are no "likes" posted.

Maybe it's time to get another person (or team) to assist with this issue.

If I had seen this thread earlier I'd not have purchased the computer which is about a week old.

I have tried many trouble shooting tips on how to fix the battery on my HP Pavilion 13 Notebook PC .

It is plugged in and says 0% available (plugged in, and not charging) and fails to run without being plugged in.

I have been looking online to buy a replacement battery as this seems like the last option.

But.. I do not know which battery to buy?   and where from?

please help.

Your battery has model numbers written in it -- something like
593553-001 or MU06. Then search for those numbers on amazon.com.

It's possible that a new battery will not solve your problem.
