Hi, I recently had the hdd replaced, I created a backup in October on a USB stick, I can't find anywhere how to restore this backup, please help!

Hello;
Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!
That depends entirely on HOW you created the "backup" -- because they are not all the same.
If you did a full backup using the HP Recovery Manager, then all you have to do is boot from the USB stick and follow the directions to restore the PC.
But, if all you did was a file backup, that will not restore the OS, and for that you will need HP Recovery Media.
So, which is it that you did?

You insert the USB stick into a port on the laptop, power on the PC, and press the Esc key repeatedly.
Eventually, you should see an HP utilites menu on screen, and one of the options listed will be for boot devices.
Press that key, and when the list of devices is shown, select the USB stick -- you might have to select "USB HDD".
The PC should then boot from the USB stick.
Good Luck

Thanks, there are a number of options to choose in the menu 'select a file to boot', not sure which I should choose, the options are:
<system volume information>
<boot>
<efi>
<hp>
<preload>
<recovery>
<rm_reserve>
<factoryupdate>
<filehistory>
bootmgr.efi

Sorry, that's not the right menu.
Pressing the Esc key repeatedly while booting should show an HP Startup Menu like the one below:
In this case, you would press F9 to get the Boot Device screen, and once there, choose your USB stick.
Good Luck

The EFI option allows you to choose a different boot file -- and that is not what you want.
I don't know what the OS Boot Manager will display, as I do not have that option.
IF that does not work, then it looks like your USB stick is not bootable.
Good Luck
