I have same problem with my wife's HP laptop.  Her model is Pavillion Entertainment PC and (Pavillion Dv6).  Her serial number is CNF84820KF.  Product number is NB163UA#ABA.   Help!

Hello MFer. To try and resolve the issue, you need to enter the BIOS, which you can do by holding the F10 key as soon as you turn on the computer. At that point, you need to run the hardware diagnostics to ensure everything is working fine. If the hardware is determined to be functional, you will need Recovery Disks to reinstall the OS. If you don't have any, you will need to contact HP to order some. Their number in North America is 1-800-474-6836.

15-6, would you be able to provide me a screen shot of what you are looking at? You can also try performing a hard reset, since it could resolve your computer start-up issue. Here is how to perform a hard reset:
