Hi Joan,

You can check the Motherboard and Video card by connecting the notebook to an external display.  If that works, then at least the MoBo and the card are OK.  Use your T.V. if you don't have a monitor - most notebooks have the connectors.

Look for physical damage around the hinge area. This is where all the connections are made between the display and the motherboard - check carefully for any fraying, broken wires, damaged cabling.

Has the laptop been dropped - maybe smacked against a hard surface? That could kill the LCD screen. Smiley Sad

The screen may just be gone.

If you have a warranty, Call this one in.

If you need more help, you'll need to post your computer information.  Here's help on how to find it.

Do not post your serial number - that's private.  Post your OS, Windows 7 32 or 64 bit, Vista, etc.

I hope this helps.

based off what you've given us, this could be a problem with your contrast, gamma, and/or other display settings. If this is the case the problem may be resolved through Control Panel (sort by category) > Hardware and Sound > Display > Calibrate Color. Just follow the wizard to calibrate your display settings.

Hope this helps,
