I'd like to know how to select a portion of the screen for screenshot capture. I read that you use shift + ctrl + the button used to switch between open windows. I did that and the cursor changed to a + so that I can select an area but I don't know how to use the touchpad to select from there. If I use one finger, it only changes the position of the +. Two or three fingers doesn't do anything at all, the + just remains motionless. What do I do from here to define the area I want to capture?

My collegue has tried this hands-on successfully and here is what he did:
After you press CTRL-SHIFT-switch screen the curser turns into a +
You then click and hold down where the left touchpad button, and drag the square to the size you want.

I do want to thank you for the reply but I'm still in the same boat. I've learned to take a partial screenshot by holding down the shift+ctrl+the button that switches between open windows but after that, when the cursor has changed to a + symbol I'm stuck. What do I do from there to use the new + cursor to outline the area I want to take a screenshot of? BTW, I'm new to a touchpad, being used to a mouse with it's left and right buttons.

While I try to find a solution for you, one option is to open in photo editing software and cut it out.

I really appreciate your efforts. Yes, I had considered just cropping the screenshot later but there must be a way to use the + symbol to get a partial screenshot, otherwise there'd be no reason for the cursor to change to that + symbol nor to have the partial screenshot option at all. I'm still baffled...too new to touchpads.
