Hi:

Sorry that didn't work for you.

Under the circumstances, I would say that you won't be able to get any audio driver to work with W7.

Did you try the automatic update by clicking on the device on the device manager?

Try this vista driver and add your hardware ID line to it like you did to the other file above.

There aren't any Vista drivers for the specific audio chip which probably means it didn't work on Vista either.

For a minute I thought I lost this link. I realize its a few years old but great to find someone who has made the effort.  I did clean install win7 (HP dv8010) 64bit, no sound. Clean install Vista, no sound. Back to clean reinstall win7 (I own it and lost the key for the preinstalled Vista - bah humbug). So again, sound. Thencame across your post. Wanted to send Kudos but couldn't get the "white star" to function. In any even, I have searched and tried for months, myself. Just wanted to thank you before my frustration level rose. When people say set compatibilitiy settings for Vista sp1 - is that for Win7? A wee bit confused here. Not seeing the etire picture. I signed up for Texas Instruments and AMD - guess HP is LOM? Maybe will better read more. Also fixing up an old Dell so being late a bit tired too. Got waay too much information recently. And being old as dirt and dum asa rock takes so much effort, you see? Well kudos to you (3 years later). Smiles 4 miles, V
