I have a G72 notebook. the ethernet cable keeps slipping out of notebook's slot. It began infrequently, then often and now I have to hold it in or I can't get on intyernet. What a crawl! when I called tech  I was told by tech to buy another cable. I've bought 2 more & same problem. What must I do to get my notebook back? thanks mucho

Hi,

When you plug the cable in can you hear a click ? The "click" should lock the cable in place.

Regards.

Hi,

You bought 2 new cables and still have the problem, the only thing I can think of is the LAN port itself. Do you have friends, relatives ...just bring those cables and plug to their machines to see, and also physically check the LAN ports to see any difference.

good idea I will try. I think you're right its the LAN connector. How is that changed/fixed with a new one in the notebook, if you are correct? again thanks

Hi,

If that's the case, you have to replace it and this is very costly (motherboard) BUT depending on how serious it is.

Good luck,
