Reinstall your touchpad driver by going to start> type recovery manager on the search field> from the recovery manager window click hardware and driver reinstallation> next> choose the touchpad driver> finish.. Restart the laptop to see the changes.

Hey, I didn't see your post before I posted mine. I have the same problem, I think. The vertical line on the touchpad (which usually scrolls) is not working. I went into touchpad settings, but there was no option for that feature, so I came here. Good luck getting this resolved. Erin

Hi,

Try something like this. Go to:

Control Panel -> Mouse -> Devices Settings

Click there ' Device Settings ' tab. Choose ' Synaptics TouchPad ' and little lower click on ' Settings... '. From the list which will be there select ' Virtual rewind ' and check two options: vertical and horizontal scrolling. Click ' Ok '.

no option for device settings in control panel. Im using XP if that matters

also, when i go to Hardware and Device driver, in "mouse and other pointing devices" it only has an option for a ps/2 compatible mouse, even though i have installed the driver

Hi again,

Please back up your system first for your safety. If you don't know how to do this then check thread started by CherylG in here.

Uninstall your current driver for TouchPad.

Go to:

Control Panel -> Mouse -> Devices Settings

Click there ' Device Settings ' tab. Choose ' Synaptics TouchPad ' and little lower click on ' Settings... '. From the list which will be there select ' Scrolling '. You will find there two options: ' Scrolling with one thinger ' and ' Scrolling with two thingers '. In both choices you may check how they work by clicking on ' Show video ' button. From this what I remember this second choice is set as default.

Choose which option is better for you and check there ' Switch on vertical scrolling ' and ' Switch on horizontal scrolling '.
