I have a 64-bit Windows 7 dv7 notebook. I have been getting the same problem for a while now and I have tried every suggestion i could with nothing working. Ever since I started using a wireless mouse I would have an error pop-up saying that an unknown device is detected. I just continuously pops up until I click on it. I found the problem in my device manager and the problem occurs right above my USB Root Hubs, a usb symbol pops up and next to it it says, Unknown Device. This occurs all of the time regardless if the mouse is being used or not. I've tried uninstalling the device but it just re-installs itself. When the driver was uninstalled my finger print scanner would not work, I tried reinstalling the drivers for the fingerprint scanner and they were up to date, I tried just disabling the fingerprint scanner but the problem persisted.     When I try to update the driver it says that the driver is up to date. The location for this device is: Port_#0002.Hub_#0003. Under device status two errors flash up switching between each other, Error 43 and Error 45. Error 45 just recently started coming up and once again, it has nothing to do with my mouse being disconnected. This problem is now spreading throughout my computer, my webcam and internal mic have stopped working and I'm pretty sure that all of the problems are connected. Under the Propert, Device Class Guide the value is:

{36fc9e60-c465-11cf-8056-444553540000}. The Capabilites value is:

00000040
CM_DEVCAP_RAWDEVICEOK

The bus type guide is:

{9d7debbc-c85d-11d1-9eb4-006008c3a19a}
The Device Instance Path is:

USB\VID_0000&PID_0000\6&2AA10F84&1&2.

I would appreciate any help or ideas at all

Please follow these steps:
1. In the Run box type devmgmt.msc.
2. Unknown devices would be listed as such and marked out with a yellow question mark.
3. Select the unknown device or other device for which you need drivers and right click to access Properties.
4. In the Properties window click on Details tab and select Device Instance Id  or Hardware ID from the drop down.
5. An alphanumeric string like this PCI\VEN_1217&DEV_7130&SUBSYS_012F1025&REV_01\4&6B16D5B&0&33F0 is the identification marker for the device.
6. Please provide this number so that we can suggest the appropriate driver.

USB\UNKNOWN, that's what it says for Hardware ID. That's why I haven't just uninstalled the driver and downloaded a complete new one, I don't know what needs to be replaced. Is there anything else I could send you that would help?

HP Quick Launch Buttons can show up as this if the driver has not installed properly or is corrupt.  On the link below is the latest installer for QLB.  Save the download to your Desktop and run the installer from there.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp46501-47000/sp46731.exe

If the issue persists, Shut the PC down, remove the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold down the Power button on the PC for a good 30 seconds.  Replace the battery, connect the mains adapter and start the PC.  Has this helped at all with the function of the Quick Launch buttons or the Unknown device?

I downloaded that installer and that did not work, I then tried unplugging everything you said and now when I restarted the computer the problem is worse. The USB Device Not Recognized window just constantly pops up until it is clicked now. once again. I tried the power trick before and when I first came onto this website I scanned the computer and updated all of my drivers and that didn't fix the issue either.
