Sir your not making any sense at all.

first thing you have to do is explain in detail what your trying to exactly,  are your replacing Ram modules? or do you wish to add ram capacity not specified by your device in which case your look to replace a part or probably the entire board?

when you replay try to be as clear as possible.

Hi

Which operating system, 32 or 64-bit are using?

What is the exact model name/product number?

Pavilion dv9500 series system supports:

 2 SODIMM slots

Customer-accessible/upgradable

 PC2-5300, 667-MHz, DDR2

 Dual-channel support

Supports up to 4096 MB of system memory
● 2048-MB total system memory (1024 MB × 2)
● 1024-MB total system memory (1024 MB × 1)

32 bit sytem can use max 3.5 GB.

64 bit system can use whole Ram which is supported by chipset (in your case 4 GB).

If You want to check where your Ram is used then:

Hit the Start button Image and in search box write Resource Monitor . Run it.

Choose Memory tab and You will see something like this:

Image

In use shows how much memory currently is Your system using.

Available memory shows this what's left after giving rest for system and hardware needs.

Total memory shows this what system may use max.

Installed memory shows how much memory is now installed in Your notebook.

Hardware reserved shows how much memory is taken by Your hardware.

Your model will work without any problems with Windows 7 64 bit version. There is no need of any driver updates for installing upto 4GB of RAM in your system.

thanks,

I am replacing 2, 1 GB ram modules with 2 , 2 GB ram modules. When I installed the 2 GB modules the computer would not boot. The ram Suppliers told me I need to go to the hp website and down loaf new drivers for the new ram to work. . I can not find where to do that on the hp website.

update bios from your product site & check again.

what is the configuration of RAM you bought? Confirm it with those given in above post.

Please go though this document & check:
