Hello ynkoroglu.

I need to know which computer you own in order to properly answer your question.  I'd like you to identify it by the product number.  This document can show you where the product number is located.

Have a great day!

I am looking to upgrade my processer to a AMD Quad-Core A8-Series APU A8-5500 with Radeon HD 7560D (AD5500OKHJBOX)

I was wondering if this was possible if i had a AMD E2 1.7 GHz.

I recently installed the AMD a10 4600M in my HP Pavillion g6 in replacement for the AMD E2 3000M but it wont turn on, the power light comes on for a second then turns off again, but it works fine again with the old CPU in.

Any way to fix this? Would it be a BIOS probem?

Thanks

Hi, firstly apologies for the necropost, but this topic is precisely what I want to ask about.

I have an HP - Pavilion g6-1241sa and looking at the service manual, linked to previously in this thread, the best upgrade option is the Intel® Core™ i7-2620M processor. I can get a refurbished one easily enough and I have had the lappy apart twice before, to replace the fan and the screen, so a quick youtube check later and replacing the CPU seems simple enough, but before I start messing about with something so important to the function of my laptop I thought I'd better check if there is anything I have missed.

So is there any reason why I cannot just drop in a refurbished Intel® Core™ i7-2620M  to my Pavilion g6-1241sa motherboard, with apropriate thermal silicone clean off and replacement, and expect it to work?

I will never mention Hitler first...
