Finally got rid of the CLScan.dll error and reloaded Cyberlink's PowerDVD and Youcam,
Cam works well when I open Youcam, but oh what a lousy frame rate! maybe 8-10?
I assume it may be computer, but I've seen better on an old Pentium - at least 15.
Any ideas?
ALSO:
HP provides version 3.5 of Youcam
Cyberlink offers an upgrade to version 6...FOR A PRICE.
Is it worth upgrading?

Thanks much. I did a super cleaning - temps & other non essentials and a thorough defrag.
This AM, I was getting ~ 15-30 fps.
I thought that the improvement was more efficient drive space, but I had 500G free of the 750G drive.
Then I read the directions on your link, and it explains it all. Thank you so much!

I selected the auto on exposure under the camera tab
and default under the video processor amp tab and now my speed seems ~ 30 fps...synced enough for fair communications. I noticed that the default was 50 hz powerline frequency. That shouldn't matter with a battery op'd machine, but I set it back to 60 hz and ok'd. I notice the default screen setting at the computer's suggested (and highest) refresh is also 60 hz and I have a concern...that freq is shown to tire one easily as it's close to human heart/nervous system operation.
