Hello,
I've recently purchased a new hard drive and continuously recieve an error message when I try to install the software for it. Here is the exact issue I'm having: http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/11713
I've confirmed the BIOS is locked in AHCI on my laptop model, so the solution is to update the SATA storage driver to the latest native Microsoft driver, but I don't know how to do that. The only driver available on my system is "Intel(R) ICH8M-E/ICH9M-E SATA RAID Controller"
Please Help!

Hi:
The dv6t-7000 has the Intel Series & chipset and uses the Intel(R) 7 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller.
If in RAID mode it uses the Intel(R) Mobile Express Chipset SATA RAID Controller.
If you are trying to install W7, please try this...
Download the drivers from this link below (first or second file listed -- 32 or 64 bit as applicable).
Extract the files onto a usb flash drive.
With the flash drive and W7 installation media plugged into the machine, boot from the W7 installation media.
After you select the install now option, select the Drive Options - Advanced menu, then select the Load Driver option.
You should now see the storage driver files listed.
If you check the box, it will only include the compatible driver.
Follow the prompts and hopefully, W7 should install.

Hello,
I downloaded the 64-bit drivers and was able to access them during installation. The AHCI controller was not listed as one of the compatible drivers, but the "Intel Mobile Express Chipset SATA RAID Controller" functions properly with the WD Black2 partitioning software.
Thank you kindly for your help!
