Will a 2012 wifi driver work on windows 11?.

my laptop was windows 8 when i bought it...then i updated it to 10 and now 11

i cant access wifi after updating it to 10 i guess i'dont really remember when this problem started

maybe is it because i'm using an old driver on windows 11

should i go back to 8?

Hi:

What model Wi-Fi adapter does your notebook have?

If you don't know, go to the device manager, click to expand the Network Adapters device manager category and there you will find the name and model number of the wireless network adapter.

The only suggestion I can offer would be to try the W10 driver for that model wifi card.

MediaTek (Ralink) Wireless LAN Adapter Driver

5.0.57.0

I am surprised the Wi-Fi adapter is showing up in the device manager at all.

That model Wi-Fi adapter usually disappears completely on the newer builds of W10, and there is no fix other than to replace that model card with a different model.

what should i do after downloading it?

Double click to run the file, follow the on-screen instructions.

The driver installation is automatic after you accept the agreement to install it.

nope still not working

now whem im trying to connect to a network its saying 'cant connect to this network'

Then it can't be fixed.

As I wrote the other day, that model Wi-Fi card is not compatible with the newer builds of W10.

I recommend that you either use a USB Wi-Fi adapter, or replace the internal Ralink Wi-Fi card with this model:

Broadcom BCM943228HMB 802.11abgn 2×2 Wi-Fi Adapter, Broadcom Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter   HP part # 730668-001

You can usually find the above model Wi-Fi card on eBay.

Search by the HP part number, not the model of the Wi-Fi card.

Below is the link to the service manual, where you can find the Wi-Fi card removal and replacement procedure.
