Has any one else had issue with customers using highlighters complaining of not getting the highlighters to pick up at all or the color coming out incorrectly/wrong?

I verified the complaint and its most likely caused by the CIS vs CCD scanner array. But I would think there is got to be a way to improve it a bit. The Kyocera machine we replaced with the HP had a mode for highlighters that would make the system be more sensitive and come out better.

Any info or ideas?

This has been well documented in service documentation, refer to document :c05784082

Avoiding some of the lighter florescent highlighters will help and is usually what we recommend to customers.

This may not be related to scans, but I thought I would mentioned to use only "Gel" highlighters for Pagewide.

How much of a change does this make?

At a recent HP training someone brought up the highlighter issue..  the solution was a "GEL" highlighter but they didn't expand.  It could have been that GEL highlights better on ink.

Another takeaway was recommended to use "HP Color Lock" paper.  Created by HP for inkjet printers..  HP Color Lock feature are now available from multiple suppliers (not just HP paper).

Hi,

Try to change the option 'Optimize Text/Picture' to 'text' in the options of the menu when copying/scanning.

Most of the time, when scanning with highlighted text there are few to none pictures on the page and changing the optimization to 'text' improves the visibility of the highlighter.

The highlighter issue with Pagewide is that the alcohol in the pen will smear the ink. Sharpie Highlighters with Smear Guard work just fine, as long as users are not grinding the tips into the paper.

All of these are helpful. Selecting the correct highlighter is super important. But the issue we are having is not smears but not picking up on the scan. Setting to text does help. But the colors are often not even close to correct. I think this is a consequence of the CIS sensor VS a CCD censor . But having a "highlighter" mode would be helpfull.
