  • I have a tech fighting an intermittent "jamming" issue in the delivery assy.  When it happens, you can hear the paper crunch in the delivery assy, then it actually recovers and will push out the sheet through the IPTU and exit normally but with waves and creases.  We have  determined that the issue is occurring after the fuser (plus this machine has had many fusers replaced).  My tech says this intermittent issue has been going on for a long time.  I apologise, I don't have any jam codes available, if it's throwing any.  I'm thinking he should try the fuser drive assy and or the duplex drive assy.  Has anyone seen this or have any thoughts?

If you have a finisher attached I would suggest that you disconnect the finisher and attach the standard output tray to see if the error continues. We have seen failures of the sorter/stapler units on this engine so if the fuser is relatively new I would to the finisher.

Hey JoKatZ,

We had similar with 2 units.  I had the guys do a print-stop test (aka open the side door in middle of print job) and found the paper was out of sorts.  It turned out, both times, to be the registration assembly.   Easy to replace and fairly inexpensive.

Thanks for the suggestion, Gary... The print on the page is perfect - no skew or other quality issues, that's why we feel the problem is after the fuser.

Hey,

So our tech was working on one of these last Friday.  I read to him your description.  He said there was not a lot that it could catch on, but he thinks the directional gate for the duplexer could be sticking.

He may be on to something because if this model used the same noise softening material as many of the other units of that era, the plastic on the solenoid wear through and does make it sticky.
