HP PageWide Enterprise Color MFP 586f

If anyone can help me out I would appreciate it.  I have a HP pagewide MFP 586 , printer has been sitting for a couple of months and when I try to print something now in black ink it prints with streaks on the page.  Printer cost me $2300 and now this.

thanks and appreciate the help

Have you tried running the printhead cleaning cycles? If yes and it did not help see below.

If it has been sitting unused and not turned on, then some of the pigment from the black ink has probably settled out of the carrier solution and sinks to the bottom ,impeding ink flow. This is a known issue and HP changed their ink formula to help reduce or eliminate the problem. First step, remove the black ink cartridge and look at the expiry date. If the expiry date is before April, you need to replace it. If the ink is nearly full, I would suggest you contact HP for a replacement. Once you have the correct ink, install it, make sure the firmware on the printer is up to date and then you will need to print 100 pages of solid black to loosen the clogged ink. Black page must be edge to edge to ensure that all printhead elements get cleaned.

Any thoughts? Yes that ink is old formulation and needs to be replaced before doing anything.

Ok so as mentioned I did get new ink for it today I replaced the black and the magenta that was depleted.  But I still cannot get it to print anything. It seems just to hang like the file is not getting sent.

I know you mentioned In the other post to reformat it and in stall the new firmware that way.  How hard is that to do? Thanks
