HP ENVY 5660 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I have seen and heard of lots of people having problems with 3rd party cartridges, even though if I recall, there was legal action taken to prevent HP printers from refusing to accept 3rd party ink. However, mine had already been working for weeks when... BAM! It stopped and says the cartridge is incompatible, even though it was previously working. I'm sure this will eventually become a class action lawsuit and I'm in.

@3RDpARTYiNK, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I see that the printer is not accepting non-HP inks.

Update the printer firmware-

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

The third party ink cartridges will work. But there are many cartridges in the market which is refilled and sometimes the chip is not configured to work with the printer. You need to contact the cartridge manufacturer and find out why its not working. Try a different cartridge supplier and check if that works.

I hope that answers your concern adequately. Let me know!
