Ink levels good but not printing at all

Hi, 

My printer will not print yet the diagnostics show that the ink levels are good. There are no errors and I have used both the app and HP print and scan doctor to do print testing with no ink on the paper.

If the printer was unused for a longer period ink inside the cartridge gets dried and you get a blank page. Replace cartridges with fresh new ones and the printer will print fine again.

My printer was working recently with an old black cartridge. I changed the black cartridge as usual and it showed up as full but it did not print using black. Other colours worked normally. I cleaned the heads and re-aligned but still no joy with the black cartridge. I changed the black cartridge again for another new one but it still did not work. There seems to be an issue transferring ink from the full cartridges to the printer which did not happen with the old, now empty cartridge.

Got the exact same issue with an Officejet Pro. I hope a solution can be posted soon.

I used Virtual Assistant but still no solution as I was unable to clean print heads other than by running  the 'Clean Printhead' tool a couple of times with no joy. Virtual Assistant recommended a repair (too time-consuming and probably expensive) or buying a new printer which reluctantly I have.

What if the printer was not unused for a long time?  Just a bad cartridge?

I had similar problem except almost new cartridge worked for about 20 pages and then, after a month stopped printing. Only black stopped printing - other colors are fine.

My printer was working earlier today before the original black cartridge ran out during a print run. So, it was not left unused any time at all. I changed a cyan cartridge at the same time as the black cartridge and the new cyan cartridge is working fine. Only the black is not working with either of 2 new cartridges.
