So my print quality is very light on one side, printer won't allow new toner cartridge to turn. The last time my wife loaded toner she didn't push the top of the cartridge so not very much toner went in, if any, but the level light on the front of the printer went to full. Is it not accepting toner because it thinks it's full? This is literally maybe the 3rd or 4th time we've loaded toner in this printer, so my drum can't be worn out.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • 1) Does the copy print out the same way?
  • 2) What's the application you are trying to print from?
  • 3)Have you tried printing from a different application or device?

While you respond to that, let's try these steps:

Adjust the print density using HP Printer Assistant on a Windows computer.

  1. Search Windows for HP, and then select your printer from the list of results.

    HP Printer Assistant opens.

  2. Click HP Device Toolbox.

  3. Click the System tab, and then click System Setup.

  4. Select a number from the Print Density drop-down menu. Higher numbers darken the printout, and lower numbers lighten the printout.

  5. Click Apply to save your changes.

  6. Try to print.

If the issue persists, kindly perform the steps mentioned in this document: Fixing Poor Print Quality If the issue still persists, please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

My issue isn't the print quality, my issue is that I can't load any toner.

THE TONER CARTRIDGE WON'T TURN

Thank you for posting back.

This seems like a hardware issue with the printer. Check if the printer carriage is moving freely inside the printer.

Kindly perform the steps mentioned in this document: Reloading Toner

Update the printer firmware if possible

  • Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your PC.

None of this is helpful.

I've done everything you've outlined. I've checked my drum, shaken it 5 times, firmware is up to date, print setting is on darkest (5) but it just doesn't have enough toner to make a decent print. Because it thinks it has toner but it doesn't, and it won't allow me to add any toner BECAUSE THE CARTRIDGE WON'T TURN. Because this printer was designed by apes.
