I have an HP Envy 5532. This has happened twice over the last few months. Printer runs out of ink without notification. Then gives notification to replace cartridge....I do that and it doesn't recognize nor print anything. Please help before I pull my hair out.

Hi @Holly216,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Envy 5532 printer is not recognizing a new cartridge, there are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue.
- Remove and reinsert the cartridge: Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source. Open the ink cartridge access door and carefully remove the cartridge that is not being recognized. Check the cartridge for any visible damage or debris, and then reinsert it firmly into its slot.
- Clean the cartridge contacts: Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source. Open the ink cartridge access door and remove the cartridge that is not being recognized. Using a lint-free cloth, gently wipe the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge and in the printer, making sure to remove any dirt or debris.
- Perform a printer reset: Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for at least 60 seconds before plugging the printer back in and turning it on. This can help reset any errors or issues that may be causing the printer to not recognize the new cartridge.
- Try a different cartridge: If the above steps do not work, try using a different cartridge to see if the printer recognizes it. This can help determine if the issue is with the cartridge or the printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
