HP OfficeJet 3830 All-in-One Printer
macOS 10.14 Mojave

The paper feeds in for half an inch and then stops. I cleaned the rollers and that was useless. Does anyone know how to replace the rollers and what part to order? I called a repair shop and they said $190 to replace the rollers. I hate to send another device to landfill.

Sorry that I wasn't more specific. It is the printer paper feed - not the scanner. It doesn't jam, it only feeds the paper 1/2 inch and stops.

Hi @jylc,

Try these steps:

Check Paper Quality:

  • Ensure that you are using the recommended paper type and quality for your printer. Avoid using wrinkled or damaged paper.

Load Paper Correctly:

  • Make sure the paper is loaded correctly in the input tray. Align the paper guides and ensure the paper stack is not too thick.

Remove Any Obstructions:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Open the printer cover and check for any obstructions in the paper path. Remove any objects or debris you find.

Clean the Paper Rollers:

  • The paper rollers might be dirty or worn out. Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to clean the paper rollers. Allow them to dry completely before plugging the printer back in and attempting to print again.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on. Sometimes a simple reset can resolve paper feed issues.

Perform a Printer Self-Test:

  • Access the printer’s control panel and navigate to the Printer Maintenance or Tools menu. Perform a paper feed test to check if the printer can feed paper correctly.

Update Firmware:

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP Envy 3830 printer. Visit the HP Support page to download and install the latest firmware updates.

I hope this helps.
