My printer is only 1 month old and I regularly get the message ADF Jam. The original has jammed in the document feeder.. When I thoroughly check there is no jam. When I try all the solutions to remedy this, nothing works permanently. During use of printing, copying or scanning the message reappears.

Hi @Mitchell31
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
It sounds like your HP Smart Tank 7605 All-in-One printer's Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) might be falsely detecting a jam.
Since you've thoroughly checked for physical jams and tried the common remedies without permanent resolution, let’s go through some advanced troubleshooting steps:
1. Clean the ADF Sensors and Rollers
- Sensors:
- Dust or debris on the sensors can cause misreads.
- Open the ADF and locate the sensors (usually small, recessed areas inside the feeder).
- Use a lint-free cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol to gently clean the sensors.
- Rollers:
- If the rollers aren’t gripping properly, clean them with the same cloth.
- Ensure they are free of dust, paper residue, or sticky substances.
2. Check for Paper Tray Alignment
- Ensure the paper tray and ADF tray are correctly aligned and seated.
- Look for warped or uneven areas that might disrupt paper feeding.
3. Reset the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn it on. This can clear minor glitches.
4. Use Single Sheets in the ADF
- Try placing a single sheet in the ADF instead of multiple sheets.
- Adjust the paper guides to hold the sheet snugly (but not tightly) to test if the issue is related to how the paper is fed.
5. Update Printer Firmware
- Outdated firmware can sometimes cause recurring errors like this:
- Visit the HP Support website.
- Search for your printer model and download the latest firmware update.
- Follow the instructions to install it.
6. Perform a Factory Reset
- If the issue persists, restoring the printer to factory settings can help:
- Navigate to the printer’s Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore Factory Settings.
- Follow the prompts. Note: You’ll need to reconfigure your printer after this step.
