My laserjet enterprise M527 has started trying to pull a document through the ATF (no document there) - while I'm trying to copy something on the plate.  I've pulled all of the rollers and cleaned everything out, turned it off, unplugged it for a while and powered it all back up.  When I try to do a copy on the plate, the ATF continues to move up and down attempting to pull a document in - can any one help me?

There is a mechanical flag next to the separation pad in the ADF assembly, I have seen cases where the spring that returns the flag to the no-paper present position does not have enough strength or the flag sticks. Flag is circled in red in picture below.
