HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3301fdw

I accidentally removed the roller wheel while clearing a paper jam and now I’m not sure how to reinstall it. I wasn’t able to find any instructional videos for this. Could you please provide step-by-step instructions (or a guide/video) on how to put it back together?

Thank you!

Hi @johndinh,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it can be when a small part like the roller wheel gets removed during a paper jam fix; it feels like the printer is holding back your productivity. Let’s get your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3301fdw back in action.

How to Reinstall the Roller Wheel

  1. Turn Off and Unplug the Printer
Safety first: disconnect the power cord before working inside the printer.

  2. Locate the Roller Assembly
Open the access door where the roller was removed (usually near the paper feed or ADF area). You’ll see two slots or clips where the roller fits.

  3. Align the Roller
    • The geared side of the roller should face the printer’s drive gear.
    • The smooth side faces the paper path.

  4. Insert One End First
    • Slide one end of the roller into its slot.
    • Compress the spring-loaded clip on the opposite side and push the roller until it clicks securely.

  5. Check Fit and Rotation
Gently rotate the roller to ensure it spins freely and is locked in place.

  6. Close All Covers and Power On
Reconnect the power cord and run a test print to confirm proper paper feeding.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
