I have a HP OfficeJet 6978 All-in-one printer that worked great until about 2 yrs ago. Since that time, I am lucky to get 10 pages printed a year..... (that is being generous). I consistently am having an issue with this POS saying there is a paper jam, that I should watch the video (which I have a blue **bleep**ing million times), and then proceeds to tell me there is a problem with printer or printer system, to turn the printer off (which I've done and unplugged probably 2034 times in the last year), and then turned back on. Then I've even looked at prior forums regarding this, found one that told me to do a "partial reset," which I did 3 nights ago and thought I had found angels up on high, as it seemed to have worked. I printed out the first THREE pages I have been able to print on this in the past 5 1/2 months. Tonight, I go to print again and guess what....the lazy ass renter 0x6100004a came back to visit with the same **bleep** issue. I have attempted another "partial reset" to no avail. Sooooo, my next step was to attempt to contact the illustrious HP for support regarding this as the stupid display also suggests on my printer. Instead of going to ANY HP site and getting an ability to contact someone, I kept getting redirected to the ignorant Virtual Assistant, who stated they couldn't help me with my problem, then back to this lovely open forum for other HP experts experiencing issues. I have honestly had HP printers for over 20 years and NEVER a problem until this one. This one has broke the mold. If I can't get HP to fix this dumbass printer and its issues, I will most definitely be purchasing a new printer and it sure as hell will not have HP ANYWHERE across any surface of it. I have two HP laptops, and while I can admit I have had no problems with them, I will be getting rid of those SOB's so fast it would make your head swim. I will be yelping, twittering (X), instagramming, and facebooking the enumerated issues I have had/am having with HP and the fact that NOONE at this company wants to reach back and assist with a resolution to their defunct product.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Paper Jam Issues on HP OfficeJet 6978!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If your HP OfficeJet 6978 is encountering frequent paper jam issues, there are several steps you can take to resolve them. Here are some troubleshooting actions:
Check for Paper Jam and Debris:
- Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord.
- Open the rear access door and inspect for any paper jam or debris.
- Remove any visible paper fragments or foreign objects carefully.
Restart the Printer:
- Turn off the printer, wait for 60 seconds, and turn it back on.
- This can sometimes reset the system and clear error messages.
Clean the Paper Path:
- Ensure the paper feed roller is free from dust and paper fragments.
- You can gently clean the rollers with a lint-free cloth and distilled water.
Inspect the Print Carriage:
- Check if the print carriage can move freely from side to side without obstruction.
Firmware Update:
- Make sure you have the latest firmware installed on your printer. You can find updates on the HP Support website.
Paper Handling:
- Use quality paper recommended by HP.
- Avoid overloading the paper tray; ensure it is aligned properly and the paper guides are set correctly.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
