HP8020 constantly says there is a jam or tray is empty. Neither is true. Won't print anything. After each start up or tray refill, it picks up and discharges one blank page

Hi @Graham5066,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I see that you are facing paper jam issues with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8020e All-In-One Printer.
Please follow the steps below to perform a reset on the unit:
1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
2. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
3. Wait at least 60 seconds.
4. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
5. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
6. Turn on the printer and try printing.
You may also refer to the steps in this document.
Let me know if this works and have a good day.

Hi Rainbow23,
Prior to my first post, I did all those things you list and also found the document you identified and worked through all those listed items. Do you know if a low ink cartridge can also trigger the same error message? The Y cartridge (all are genuine HP) is pretty low, but not exhausted it says. It seems from my observation and listening to its sounds, that a page is drawn into the point when the actual printing ought to start. The carriage never starts the printing process and the error message appears. If I go through the restart process, another new page is drawn into that same point and the error cycle is triggered again. Regrettably the printer is just out of warranty
