2 possible problems -
1. you have the wrong voltage of fuser
2. you installed a fuser for a 775 or other model that is similar but not compatible.
Correct current part number for this fuser is CE710-69009

Hi,
i appreciate you taking the time to respond. i regret that i failed to include that my printer is 220Vac. The part number CE710-69006 is for a 110V printer. i purchased the CE978A fuser unit which from all my research is the correct part number.
At the moment i am struggling to find a solution. HP were very unhelpful telling me to throw it out and buy a new printer. Not encouraging tech support.

The fuser you purchased is for the 5525 series and is not compatible with the 5225 series.
This should be the correct part: https://www.partshere.com/online/detail.asp?partno=CE710-69002
