Carriage Jam issue. Tried everything recommended: clear paper, reinstall ink cartridge, unplug and wait 60+ seconds, manually moved carriage back and forth.
I noticed that under the lid that i open to remove, there is a piece you lift out. Under that there is this plastic tooth piece. One side is latch the other is free. Is there anyway to secure that or is it support to be that way? That is the only thing i can see that might be interfering

I had same issue with my all-in-one 918. It was a broken paper-feed gear, apparently a common source of problems in this line of equipment. There are good videos on how to diagnose, repair. Kevin at BCH made the video I watched and I bought a replacement gear from that company through Amazon. Repair took about an hour and a half to do - took my time, took pics of things as I went, stayed organized. Halfway through I had to order the gear and wait a few days to get it. Not tremendously complicated - one thing he didn't show in the video was that the LCD screen has a ribbon cable that pushes into a connector on the board right inside- this cable disconnected when I took off the inside of the frame. When I put it back together, it was quite easy, once I got the piece lined up, to then put the ribbon back into the connector. Works as good as new.
