My all in one printer is old but has been reliable. The cartridge carrier seems to be too high and the cartridges are not returning to their normal position but moving to the extreme left

Hello @She-_ila , how are you ?

Please, try the procedures below:

1. Perform a power drain
  • Unplug the printer's power cord from both the printer and the wall.
  • Press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  • Plug the power cord back directly into the wall, not a surge protector.
  • Turn the printer on and see if the carriage moves to its home position.
2. Check for and clear obstructions

  • Keep the printer on for this step. Open the cartridge access door to allow the carriage to move to the access area.
  • Gently slide the carriage from side to side to see if it moves freely.
  • Look for any obstructions like crumpled paper, labels, or other debris in the carriage path and remove them carefully.

  • Check the rollers and remove any small, torn pieces of paper.
3. Check the ink cartridges
  • If the carriage is not jammed, but the error persists, the problem might be with the cartridges themselves.
  • Remove the ink cartridges and check if they are inserted correctly in the proper slots (black on the right, color on the left).
  • Clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer with a dry, lint-free cloth or a cotton swab.
  • Reinsert the cartridges, ensuring they click into place, and try printing a test

Best regards
