Why am I getting constant "clear printer jam" errors after each print even though there is no paper jam in the printer? How do I fix it?

Hi @thur59

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

The "clear printer jam" error on your HP Envy 5070, even when there's no visible jam, could be caused by a sensor issue, debris in the paper path, or a hardware malfunction.

Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Inspect the Paper Path:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Remove all paper from the input and output trays.
  • Open the paper path cover and check for torn paper bits, labels, or debris. Use a flashlight to inspect hard-to-see areas.

Clean the Paper Path Sensors:

  • Locate the sensors along the paper path, especially near the rollers.
  • Gently clean the sensors using a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water.

Reset the Printer:

  • Disconnect the printer from power while it’s still on.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds, then reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.

Check and Clean Rollers:

  • Open the printer and locate the rollers near the input and output trays.
  • Use a clean, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to wipe the rollers. Rotate them manually to clean all surfaces.

Perform a Printer Self-Test:

  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Settings > Tools > Printer Status Report.
  • Print a self-test page to see if the error persists.

Update or Reset Firmware:

  • Ensure the printer's firmware is up to date using the HP Smart app or HP website.
  • As a last resort, perform a factory reset.

If this solution hits the spot, please come back and click "Accepted Solution" to help others find the answer. And if you'd like to say thanks, select "Yes" on the bottom left of the public post, as that would make our day!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
