I opened the sliding document feeder for my HP ENVY Pro 6455 to do a print job but now am unable to slide it back in. Please see attached photo. I've tried but it's stuck. I don't want to put extra force in case it breaks. Any guidance about how to slide it back in would be most welcome. Thank you.

Hi @NSY1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the document feeder on your HP ENVY Pro 6455 All-In-One Printer is permanently stuck in the "out" position, you may need to troubleshoot and potentially repair it. Here are some steps you can follow to address this issue.
- Power Cycle the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on. Sometimes, a simple power cycle can resolve minor issues.
- Check for Paper Jams: Make sure there are no paper jams or foreign objects obstructing the document feeder. Even a small piece of paper can cause the feeder to malfunction. Carefully inspect the feeder and remove any obstructions.
- Reset the Printer: Perform a factory reset on your printer to see if that resolves the issue. The method for resetting your specific printer model may vary, so consult your printer's user manual or HP's official website for instructions.
- Update Firmware/Software: Ensure that your printer's firmware and software are up to date. You can usually update these through the printer's control panel or by visiting HP's official website and downloading the latest updates for your printer model.
- Inspect for Damage: Examine the document feeder for any visible signs of damage or misalignment. If you notice any physical damage, you may need to contact HP support or a professional technician for repair.
- Manually Adjust the Feeder: If the document feeder is not physically damaged but is still stuck, try gently nudging it back into the correct position. Be cautious not to use excessive force, as this could cause further damage.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
