Hi @Bonzabaz,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

The E4 error on HP printers typically indicates a paper jam or a similar paper handling issue. Here are steps you can follow to try and resolve this issue:

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect it from the power source.
  • Open the printer's access doors and carefully inspect all areas for any jammed paper. Make sure to check the input tray, output tray, and any other accessible areas. Remove any stuck paper gently to avoid tearing.

Clean the Rollers:

  • While the printer is turned off and unplugged, clean the paper rollers with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water. Make sure the paper path is clear before turning the printer back on.

Inspect and Reload Paper:

  • Remove the paper stack from the input tray and check for any damaged paper. Fan the edges of the stack to avoid sticking and then load it back into the tray ensuring it is aligned and not overfilled.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, disconnect the power cord, wait about a minute, then reconnect the power and turn it back on. This can sometimes clear error messages.

Check for Foreign Objects:

  • Inspect the printer for any small objects or debris that might have fallen inside. These can sometimes cause blockages that trigger an E4 error.

Update Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer firmware is up-to-date as firmware updates can sometimes resolve known issues with error codes.

Take care and have an amazing day!
