Hi @E414,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Smart Tank 529 All-in-One Printer is displaying an "E4" error on the screen, it typically indicates a problem with the ink system or the printhead. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

Check Ink System and Cartridges:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Open the ink cartridge access door and check if the cartridges are properly installed.
  • Ensure that the ink cartridges are not clogged or damaged.

Check for Blockages:

  • Look for any obstructions inside the printer that might be preventing the cartridges from moving freely.
  • If the printhead is obstructed or clogged, you may need to clean it.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it, and wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and power it on to see if the error clears.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date by checking through the HP Smart app or your printer’s web interface.

Check the Ink Tank:

  • The "E4" error could be related to a problem with the ink tank or its connections. Ensure that the ink tank is correctly installed and connected.

Perform a Printer Reset:

  • If the error persists, perform a factory reset on the printer through the settings menu in the printer's control panel.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
