@flagship2, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 displays a 'paper problem' error and suggests clearing a paper jam, here are some steps you can perform to resolve the issue:
Solution 1: Turn the Printer Off and Then On Again
- Turn Off the Printer: Press the power button to turn off the printer. If the printer does not turn off, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
- Unplug the Power Cord: Remove the power cord from the power source.
- Wait for 60 Seconds: This will help reset the printer.
- Reconnect the Power Cord: Connect the power cord directly to a wall outlet, then to the printer.
- Turn On the Printer: Press the power button to turn the printer back on and attempt to print a test page.
Solution 2: Clear Paper Jams
From the Output Tray:
- Remove any loose paper visible from the output tray.
- Check the rollers in the output tray for jammed paper.
- Use both hands to gently remove jammed paper to avoid tearing.
From the Input Tray:
- Lift the output tray and carefully remove jammed paper.
- If papers tear, ensure pieces are removed to avoid further jams.
Inside the Printer:
- Open the cartridge access door and wait till the carriage is idle.
- Disconnect the power cord.
- Use a flashlight to inspect and remove any torn pieces of paper inside.
Solution 3: Clean the Paper Feed Rollers
Dust and debris accumulation can lead to paper jams. Clean the rollers with a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water. Ensure the printer is turned off and the power cord is disconnected while cleaning.
Solution 4: Resetting the Printer
Sometimes, the paper jam error persists even without jammed paper. Reset the printer by disconnecting it from power while on, waiting for 60 seconds, and then reconnecting.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
