Envy 6020e says 'out of paper' when I load non-HP 4x6 glossy, but works perfectly well with HP paper

My printer will only print 4x6 photos if I use HP paper. I notice that HP are having to defend several class actions for restrictive practices regarding their blackmailing approach to ink. HP updated the software on already purchased printers to prevent users using generic ink.  Would anyone in Australia like to join with me to start a class action around their restrictive practices forcing users to use only HP paper?
