@Khawkwz,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 error 0x610004a typically indicates a printhead failure, paper jam, or carriage jam.

Follow these steps to resolve the issue:

1: Restart the Printer (Power Reset)

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Wait at least 2-3 minutes.
  3. Plug it back in and turn it on.
  4. Check if the error clears.

2: Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions

  1. Open the front cover and rear access panel.
  2. Look for and remove any jammed paper or foreign objects inside the printer.
  3. Move the printhead carriage gently left and right to ensure it moves freely.
  4. Close all panels and restart the printer.

3: Reseat the Ink Cartridges

  1. Open the ink cartridge access door.
  2. Remove all cartridges and check for leaks or damage.
  3. Reinsert them one by one, making sure they click into place.
  4. Close the door and restart the printer.

4: Perform a Printhead Cleaning

  1. On the printer touchscreen, go to:
    • Setup > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead
  2. Let the printer complete the cleaning process and try printing again.

5: Update the Printer Firmware

  1. Download and install the latest firmware from HP’s official support site.
  2. Restart the printer and check if the issue is resolved.

6: Perform a Factory Reset

  1. On the printer touchscreen, go to:
    • Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore
  2. Select Restore Factory Defaults and confirm.
  3. The printer will restart; set it up again and check if the error disappears.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
