HP ENVY 5530 e-All-in-One Printer

I have an HP Envy 5530 All-in-one printer that I have been using for the last 3 years and just recently it stopped feeding regular card stock paper. I can print regular paper just fine but the card stock either delays the feed and cuts off 1/3 of the print job or won't feed at all. I have done the paper jam and feed troubleshooting steps but haven't had any luck fixing this issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @awoodhull88,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Envy 5530 printer is no longer feeding card stock paper, there could be a few possible reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.

  • Verify paper compatibility: Ensure that the card stock paper you are using is within the supported specifications for your printer. Check the printer's manual or the HP website to confirm the recommended paper weight and thickness.
  • Adjust paper settings: Open the print settings on your computer and make sure that the paper type is correctly selected as "Card Stock" or a similar option. Additionally, check the paper size settings to ensure they match the size of the card stock you are using.
  • Clean the paper feed rollers: Over time, dust and debris can accumulate on the printer's paper feed rollers, causing them to slip or not grip the paper properly. Turn off the printer, open the access panel or rear tray, and locate the paper feed rollers. Clean them gently using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water. Avoid using alcohol or solvents as they can damage the rollers.
  • Adjust paper guides: Check the paper guides within the paper tray to ensure they are snugly holding the card stock in place. If the guides are too loose, the paper may not feed correctly. Adjust them to fit the width of the card stock, ensuring a secure and straight alignment.
  • Fan the paper: Before loading the card stock into the paper tray, fan the stack of paper to separate the sheets. This helps reduce static electricity and ensures that the pages do not stick together, which can cause feeding issues.
  • Reduce the paper stack: If you're trying to feed a thick stack of card stock, try reducing the number of sheets in the paper tray. Overloading the tray can lead to feeding problems. Place a smaller number of card stock sheets in the tray and see if the printer can feed them properly.
  • Update printer drivers: Outdated or incompatible printer drivers can sometimes cause issues with paper feeding. Visit the HP support website, enter your printer model, and download the latest drivers and firmware for your operating system. Install the updates and restart your computer before attempting to print again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
