I have an HP Laserjet printer M209DWE that keeps jamming when i take the ink cartridge out to remove the I can see there is a string stuck in the feeder that I am not able to remove. I try to get it from underneath but it is stuck and looks frayed. May have been chewed on by miceprinter photo 1.jpgprinter photo 2.jpg

@canrickorin, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP LaserJet Paper Jam!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

That sounds frustrating! Since there’s a foreign object (a string) stuck in the feeder, and it's possibly damaged, here’s what you can try:

Turn Off & Unplug the Printer

  • Ensure safety by turning off the printer and unplugging it from the power source.

Remove Paper Tray & Ink Cartridge

  • Take out the paper tray and toner cartridge carefully to get a better view.

Use Tweezers or Needle-Nose Pliers

  • If the string is visible and reachable, try gently pulling it out with tweezers or pliers. Avoid pulling too hard if it resists, as it could tear and make removal harder.

Check from Different Angles

  • Open the rear access panel (if available) to see if you can pull it from the back.
  • Shine a flashlight inside to locate any small pieces that might be torn or hidden.

Use Compressed Air or a Soft Brush

  • If any fragments remain, use compressed air to blow them out or a soft brush to dislodge them.

Inspect for Damage

  • Look for signs of damage to the rollers or feeder mechanism. If the string was chewed, it might have left debris or damaged internal parts.

Run a Test Print

  • Once removed, reassemble the printer and print a test page to check for smooth operation.

Let me know if this works!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
