I have a paper jam and cannot find it in my HP Smart Tank Plus 551. It says is is in area E4, where is that? There is no other place to look inside my printer besides where the printer cartridges are. Is there a back door on my printer?

I understand you are getting the E4 error on your HP Smart Tank Plus 551 indicates a paper jam in the printer. The E4 area typically refers to the rear of the printer. Here's how you can locate and clear the jam:

Steps to Clear a Paper Jam in Area E4:

Turn Off and Unplug the Printer
Ensure the printer is turned off and unplugged to avoid any risk of injury or further damage.

Access the Rear of the Printer
Look at the back of your printer. The HP Smart Tank Plus 551 should have a rear access panel or a duplexer (if your model supports double-sided printing).

  • Locate the two tabs or levers on each side of the rear panel.
  • Gently press or lift these tabs to remove the panel or duplexer.

Check for Paper Jams

  • Inspect the area inside for any jammed or torn paper. Use a flashlight if needed to ensure nothing is hidden.
  • Remove any paper carefully to avoid tearing it. Be thorough, as even small scraps of paper can cause further jams.

Check the Print Path from the Front

  • Open the front cover where the cartridges are located.
  • Inspect the print path for any stuck pieces of paper or debris.

Inspect the Rollers
While the rear panel is removed, gently turn the rollers to check for obstructions. Clean the rollers with a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water if they seem dirty.

Reassemble the Printer
