I am trying to print on Koala 48lb and PDP 52lb Matte photo paper.  Neither will print and get jammed in my printer.  Can anyone suggest a good matte photo paper that will work in my HP8710?  Both papers worked fine in my friends Epson2800.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @KikiReg,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding printing on matte photo paper!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you are experiencing paper jams with Koala 48lb and PDP 52lb Matte Photo Paper in your HP OfficeJet 8710 printer, it might be due to the thickness or weight of the paper. Here are some suggestions and recommended paper types that could work better with your printer:

Recommended Matte Photo Papers:

HP Premium Plus Photo Paper, Matte

  • Designed to work seamlessly with HP printers and provide high-quality prints.
  • Widely compatible across various HP printer models including the OfficeJet series.

HP Everyday Photo Paper, Matte

  • Lighter than some premium options but still offers good print quality for everyday use.
  • Suitable for general photo printing without paper jam issues.

Additional Tips on Selecting Paper:

Paper Specifications: Verify the paper settings in your printer specifications to ensure compatibility with the weight and thickness of the paper. HP printers perform best with HP branded papers due to their precise compatibility.

Printer Settings: Make sure the printer's settings are adjusted for matte photo paper, including setting the correct paper type and quality in the printer properties or print dialog.

Manual Feed Option: If available, try using the manual feed option for thicker paper types to minimize the risk of jamming.

Using HP-branded papers can help to eliminate compatibility issues and are often recommended to ensure the best print quality and avoid paper handling problems. If problems persist, checking for any obstructions inside the printer or updating the printer's firmware/drivers might also be beneficial.

I hope this helps.
