Hi @Ciph,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The persistent "Paper Jam" message on your HP OfficeJet 5745 e-All-in-One Printer can occur even when no paper is physically jammed. To resolve this, follow these troubleshooting steps.
Restart the Printer
- Turn off the printer using the power button.
- Unplug the printer from the power source.
- Wait for 60 seconds.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
Check for Obstructions
- Open all access areas (e.g., rear access door, input/output trays, and ink cartridge area).
- Look for small bits of paper, dust, or debris.
- Use a flashlight to ensure no obstruction is hiding.
Clean the Rollers
- Open the printer and locate the paper feed rollers.
- Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to gently clean the rollers.
- Rotate the rollers manually to clean all sides.
- Allow them to dry completely before closing the printer.
Check the Paper Sensor
- Dust or debris can block the paper sensor. Clean the paper path using a dry, lint-free cloth.
- Check for any loose or dislodged components around the paper feed area.
Reset the Printer
- Perform a factory reset:
- On the printer's control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore Factory Defaults.
- Confirm the reset.
- Note: A factory reset may require reconfiguring the printer after the reset.

Update the Printer Firmware
- Visit the HP Support website and download the latest firmware for your printer model.
- Install the update using your computer or HP Smart app.
Run the Printer’s Diagnostic Tool
- On the printer control panel, navigate to Setup > Tools > Run Paper Path Test.
- The test may reset the error state.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
