Hi @Ciph,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The persistent "Paper Jam" message on your HP OfficeJet 5745 e-All-in-One Printer can occur even when no paper is physically jammed. To resolve this, follow these troubleshooting steps.

Restart the Printer

  • Turn off the printer using the power button.
  • Unplug the printer from the power source.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check for Obstructions

  • Open all access areas (e.g., rear access door, input/output trays, and ink cartridge area).
  • Look for small bits of paper, dust, or debris.
  • Use a flashlight to ensure no obstruction is hiding.

Clean the Rollers

  • Open the printer and locate the paper feed rollers.
  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to gently clean the rollers.
  • Rotate the rollers manually to clean all sides.
  • Allow them to dry completely before closing the printer.

Check the Paper Sensor

  • Dust or debris can block the paper sensor. Clean the paper path using a dry, lint-free cloth.
  • Check for any loose or dislodged components around the paper feed area.

Reset the Printer

  • Perform a factory reset:
    1. On the printer's control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore Factory Defaults.
    2. Confirm the reset.
  • Note: A factory reset may require reconfiguring the printer after the reset.

Update the Printer Firmware

  • Visit the HP Support website and download the latest firmware for your printer model.
  • Install the update using your computer or HP Smart app.

Run the Printer’s Diagnostic Tool

  • On the printer control panel, navigate to Setup > Tools > Run Paper Path Test.
  • The test may reset the error state.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
