Hi @Chris66256,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing a persistent paper feed issue with your HP Smart Tank 580-590 printer, where the paper consistently gets crumpled during the printing process. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

  • Inspect Paper: Ensure that the paper you're using is not damaged, wrinkled, or too old. Also, make sure you're using the correct type and size of paper recommended for your printer.
  • Check Paper Tray: Make sure the paper is loaded correctly in the paper tray and that the tray is not overfilled. Adjust the paper guides to fit the width of the paper stack properly.
  • Clean Paper Path: Dust and debris can accumulate in the paper path over time, leading to feed issues. Use compressed air or a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the rollers and paper path inside the printer.
  • Reset Printer: Try resetting the printer to its default settings. You can usually find this option in the printer's menu or settings.
  • Update Firmware: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. HP often releases firmware updates to address performance issues and improve compatibility.
  • Adjust Print Settings: Sometimes, adjusting the print settings can help alleviate paper feed issues. Try reducing the print quality or changing the paper type setting to see if it makes a difference.
  • Check for Obstructions: Inspect the printer for any obstructions such as small pieces of paper or foreign objects that may be causing the paper feed problem.

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the paper feed issue with your HP Smart Tank printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
