It is actually a 9130e.  It states there is a carriage jam, but I see no paper jam.  I have powered down and unplugged several times.

Hi @Mag83,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP 9130e is showing a carriage jam and the printhead is stuck on the far-right side, even though you don’t see any paper jam. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Power Reset the Printer Correctly

Turn the printer OFF, unplug the power cord from the back, and wait 60 seconds.

Plug it directly into a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors) and turn it on.

This forces the carriage motor to attempt a fresh reset cycle.

Check the Carriage Path for Obstructions

Open the printer access door.

Gently look for torn paper, labels, or debris near the right-side service station where the printhead parks.

Even tiny pieces can prevent the carriage from moving.

Gently Move the Carriage if Possible

With the printer still on, open the access door.

Wait for the carriage to try and move — if it doesn’t, turn the printer OFF and then carefully attempt to slide the carriage toward the center.

Don’t force it; if it resists, stop.

Check the Printhead Parking Area (Right Side)

That area builds up ink pads and dried ink, causing the carriage to stick.

Use a flashlight to see if the printhead is stuck on dried ink buildup.

If you see buildup, gently wipe around the area with a lint-free cloth (don’t push into the pads).

Ensure the Printhead Latch Is Fully Down

Lift the printhead latch and press the printhead down firmly.

Close the latch securely — a loose latch will trigger a jam message even without a real jam.

Remove and Reseat the Ink Cartridges

Take out all cartridges.

Check for tape, leaks, or misaligned cartridges.

Reseat each cartridge until it clicks.

Check the Encoder Strip (Transparent Strip Behind Carriage)

If this strip is dirty or out of place, the carriage cannot detect its position.

Make sure it is straight, not twisted, and not coated in ink.

If dirty, wipe gently with a dry lint-free cloth.

Close All Doors Properly and Restart

Close every panel and access door securely.

Restart the printer and see if the carriage moves during startup.

I hope this helps.
