Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Photosmart c7280 series printer. I changed all of the ink cartridges.  Now I have an error code 0xc18a 0206. I have tried to try it on and off as suggested. But it still comes  backwith the error code.

The error code 0xc18a0206 on your HP Photosmart C7280 printer typically indicates an issue with the ink system. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot and potentially resolve this error:

1. Reset the Printer

Power Off the Printer: Turn off the printer by pressing the Power button.

Disconnect Power Cord: Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.

Wait for 60 Seconds: Allow the printer to sit idle for about a minute to clear out any residual power.

Reconnect Power Cord and Turn On: Plug the power cord back into the printer and press the Power button to turn it on.

2. Remove and Reinstall Ink Cartridges

Check Cartridge Installation:

  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Remove all ink cartridges from their slots.
  • Check each cartridge for any protective tape or seal that may still be attached. Remove it if present.

Reinstall Cartridges:

  • Insert each cartridge back into its respective slot.
  • Ensure that each cartridge is securely seated.

3. Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Perform a Hard Reset:
    • While the printer is powered on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    • Wait at least 60 seconds.Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
    • Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
    • Turn on the printer if it does not automatically power on.

4. Clear Error Message:

  • If the error message persists, try clearing it by following these steps:
    • Press and hold the '*' key on the printer’s control panel.While holding the '*' key, press the '#' key and then release both keys.
    • Enter '123' to enter maintenance mode.Press the right arrow key until 'System Configuration Menu' is displayed.
    • Press 'OK'.Press the right arrow key until 'Hardware Failure Status' is displayed.Press 'OK' to clear the error.

5. Update Firmware (if possible):

  • Visit the HP Support website for your printer model.
  • Download and install any available firmware updates for your printer.
  • Follow the instructions provided on the website to complete the update.
